The latest example is Disney's Iron Man 3, which opened last weekend with $7.1 million in box office at IMAX theaters out of $198.4 million overall. Here's something I bet you didn't know. Back in 1979 and 1982, Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan broke the opening weekend record with $11.9 million and $14.3 million respectively.
