But they're nevertheless a big improvement.Earlier this month, I explained to Richard Wiringa why the iOS versions of... full story ![]()

Even after several months, I don't know what to make of Windows 8. And Microsoft's tablet initiative feels like it's on the rocks. Still, when I look at SkyDrive and Outlook.com — which will replace Hotmail completely by this summer — I see hope for the company. Windows 7 and XP still dominate web traffic for the Windows platform with 44.6% and 39% share respectively in February per Net Applications. It is not too surprising that Windows 8 hasn’t had higher usage (it was 2.67% in February) since businesses are going to need to test and train its employees and I don’t think consumers are rushing to buy a new PC or looking to upgrade...

According to Net Applications, Vista's usage share of all Windows PCs in January was 5.7%. That's less than a third of the share Vista enjoyed at its peak in the fall of 2009—about the time its...

Microsoft was hit with a double whammy last month as it made scant progress in either boosting the usage share of Windows 8 or depressing the share of Windows XP, data published today showed. According to Internet analytics company Net Applications, Windows 8 gained just over half a percentage point of usage share in April—virtually the same as the month before—but again...

CloudOn does the seemingly impossible. It hosts Microsoft Office in the cloud, then makes it available on your iPhone, iPad, or Android tablet. Filed under: Investing Microsoft's Windows 8 may be a better product than all of the other Windows offerings before it, but the company needs consumers to believe that -- and to buy it. As tablet sales climb and the number of mobile devices overtake PCs later this year, Microsoft is betting that consumers will use Windows 8 on PCs, tablets, and hybrids of the two. Better,...
